Nuno Vieira e Brito
Senior Consultant
Graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1984, with Equivalence to the degree of Master in Animal Production, in 1994, from the Escola Superior de Medicina Veterinária (Universidade Técnica de Lisboa). MsC of Science in Animal Production, by the International Centre of Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, in 1983, and the Equivalence to the degree of Master from the Universities of Spain.
He attended the post-graduate course in Animal Production (1985) and the Cycle of Nutrition and Animal Feeding (1986) at the Instituto Agronómico do Mediterrâneo, in Zaragoza, Spain.
He has a doctorate in Veterinary Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, in 2002.

He was Senior Technician of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Entre Douro e Minho, as a veterinarian responsible for animal health, between 1985 and 1987, and Manager of the Groupings of Sanitary Defense Regional Subprogramme in 1987 and 1988 and has a Diploma and Public Distinction by the Minister of Agriculture.
He was the Director-General of Veterinary, in 2011 and 2012, and the Director-General of Food and Veterinary, in 2012 and 2013, and from 2013 to 2015 he was the Secretary of State of Food and Food Research. He is a consultant for several companies, local authorities and international institutions for the agricultural sector, farming and agri-foods. He is deputy professor at Escola Superior Agrária de Ponte de Lima, Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo since 1988, having been the Scientific co-ordinator of courses, post-graduate courses and President of the Pedagogical Council. He is also Coordinator of the Research Centre CISAS. |
He was Vice-President of the Instituo Politécnico of Viana do Castelo, and at the same time, the Institutional Coordinator of Erasmus and of International Relations, Coordinator of Image and Communication Office and Manager of the Institutional System of Quality Management, among others IPVC between 2007 and 2011.
Exercised, at the international level, several positions and functions, particularly Vice-Chairman of Regional Steering Committee of the "Global Framework for the Progressive Control of the Transboundary Animal Diseases - GF-TADs", European Medicine Agrncy, EMA, "Manager Board", Delegate to World Organization for Animal Health - OIE, Chief Veterinary Officer (2011-2013) and European Association Animal Production (EAAP) - "Board Member" (2012-2016).
Author of books (11), chapters (11) and of numerous articles published in national and international scientific and technical journals.
Received a Distinction by the President of the Order of Veterinary Doctors, in 2010, by the role played in the formation of the Office of Qualification of the OMV.
Awarded by the Government of France, in 2016, with the Order of Merit in Agriculture - Commander degree - for services relevant to Agriculture.
